On Sunday the JUNETEENTH festival opened at noon with the HAROLD LAND TRIO. Here we see Dowell Davis on drums, Harold Land on piano and Sean Brogan on bass.

This was followed by PARIS TOON & MOTHERS FAVORITE CHILD, with gorgeous voices of  Alan Morris and Tanya Thillet, Charles Bond on guitar, Ales Kyhn on bass, Ted Belledin on sax and keyboard and Dowell Davis on drums.

The performance moved to the Vaults with reggea music by HENRY TURNER JR. & FLAVOR and another lively dance with, of course, the traditional Limbo dance, as you can see, loved by everyone. This years band members were Henry Turner Jr. on guitar and vocals, Danny Odudua on drums, RasWayne, vocals, the excellent Ronnie Huston on drums and for his first year here at Arcosanti, new bassist Matt Burns.

The evening closed with a performance by the ADAMS FAMILY QUINTETT, with Nicki Adams, piano; Sean Brogan, bass; Brian Messenger, guitar; Jessie Yarbaroug, drums and Pad Adams, trumpet. The group was joined by event organizer Milt Cannon on saxophone, and few just a few songs, by Ray Brown Junior, vocals.

The photos hardly convey that this was a beautiful event, very very good music, good food, nice vendors, good atmosphere, mellow, lighthearted and thoroughly enjoyable. Outstanding musicians all together, most impressive performances by drummer Dowell Davis and bassist Sean Brogan, awesome!
