Saturday night Arcosanti had the pleasure of hosting Rhythm Oasis and Hojarasca in concert together.

Rhythm Oasis is an ensemble of northern Arizona musicians who perform traditional middle eastern music; the group’s notable talent and infectious enthusiasm soon had audience members dancing and clapping along to the music.

Arcosanti was excited to welcome back the contemporary Andean musical group Hojarasca, who earlier this year spent five weeks at Arcosanti with the Carpetbag Brigade and Nemcatacoa Teatro, and whose beautifully executed interpretations of traditional Andean music delighted the entire audience.

Lucas Rodas, the director and founder of the group, is also responsible for the construction of all the instruments the group performs with, and hosted an ocarina making workshop at Arcosanti that can be found here.

Here is the group during their Saturday night performers, from left to right Diego Garcia, Lucas Rodas, and Ana Maria.
