Jeff Stein spoke about Arcosanti’s continuing work as the featured speaker this past week at the Goodyear Arts and Culture Commission’s lecture series entitled, “Hot Coffee”. The series presents artists, arts professionals, historians and educators who “help shape the Arts in the Valley.” The popular venue, which famously does indeed serve hot coffee to its attendees, was the Total Wine superstore in Goodyear, Arizona.[photos and text by Jeff Stein]
The nearly one hundred audience members included many who had visited Arcosanti in the past, and involved folks who had participated, several years ago in the Elder Hostel program at Arcosanti, a positive experience, they said, that had changed their lives. “How can we live there?” was a recurring question after the lecture. “We’re working on it…” was the answer; and of course, little by little we are working on that.
The motto of Goodyear’s Arts and Culture Commission is, “Cultivating – Enriching – Inspiring,” which of course is what Arcosanti itself attempts to do. A good fit at the start of spring between audience speaker and sponsor.
