Arcosanti was just one stop during a month long study trip across America. The group started in Chicago and is driving towards Los Angeles on Route 66 in 31 RV’s.

The first year students and their teachers are from AARHUS School of Architecture in Aarhus, Danemark.

The main purpose of the trip is to study and experience ‘what is between the cities’ – the American landscape – minor urban rural settlements and structures along Route 66, relation to climate, and culture, mobile and local.

During preliminaries for the visit, there was some discussion about the students architectural project here at Arcosanti.

One of the suggested themes was creating a light structure[s] of sticks and cloth, integrated as continuity of landscape.

The group completely fill the ‘Red Room’, a meeting room in the S.O.D. Soleri Office Complex. The individual teams presented their ideas with digital slideshows.

Presentations continued in the Colly Soleri Amphitheater.

More about this visit and photos of the completed project will be posted on 3/25/2011.
