On Thursday, March 21st, visiting alumna and former agricultural manager Lisa Willott, gave a presentation in the cafe on her Master’s research project studying Cuban agriculture. Lisa conducted her fieldwork in Cuba where she interviewed various small-scale farmers about using sustainable farming methods.
She found that sustainable farming was widespread because of the tremendous support for farmers from the government, academic institutions and the community. Cuba’s farming system that recovered from a drastic crisis provides many lessons for the rest of the world’s agriculture![photo by Chihiro Saito & text by Lisa Willott]
