The riparian habitat surrounding the Agua Fria waterway which runs through Arcosanti’s
property is a delicate one. With grant-funds from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service,
Arcosanti residents are participating in a Riparian Restoration Program, erecting
a three-and-a-half mile barbed-wire fence around the area to keep cattle out and
protect the habitat. In this photo, Rio and Karen lug a roll of wire across the
desert to continue the fencing. Photo and text by Benjamin Ericson.
