Ground breaking music diplomacy project OneBeat arrived at Arcosanti Sunday evening and have begun preparations for their Tuesday night performance. The group consists of 25 musicians from 17 countries around the world that have come together in the U.S. for a month of travel and collaboration.
They began their tour with a two week residency at the Montalvo Arts Center in the Bay Area, then continued on to Los Angeles, and now are stopping at Arcosanti for three days before ending their tour in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
OneBeat is an incubator for music-based social entrepreneurship, where innovative musicians from around the world launch collaborative projects designed to make a positive impact on local and global communities. The fellows collaborate to create original material and record new musical ideas, which they then perform for a wide array of American audiences.
At the end of the tour and residency, the OneBeat musicians create a plan for their future, and begin to develop projects in their home countries that are linked to a mutually-reinforcing network of music-driven social enterprises.
We are honored to be able to host such a unique and innovative endeavor, and are looking forward to experiencing a wonderful evening of creativity and music.[photo courtesy OneBeat, text by Julia Dorn-Giarmoleo, Arcosanti PR representative]
