A musician’s musician, Walter has fine-tuned Swamp Jazz and Blues on finger picking electric guitar. Over the past three decades, Walter has forged a distinctive international career as the lead guitarist for Woodstock legend Richie Havens, half of the folk-duo The Nudes, and guitarist and leader of the swamp/blues-outfit Swamp Cabbage.
Parks stepped out on his own in 2010 to record a solo album, which is due out on Wildflower Records in late this year. After making music in the Big Apple and spending time at a Buddhist monastery in France, Parks now calls Savannah, Georgia home. Walter is inspired by the swampy gospel blues that wails from storefront churches and roadhouses around Savannah.
The Cafe at Arcosanti will be serving roasted salmon with mushrooms and green onions, stuffed portabello mushrooms, buttered golden potatoes, chilled quinoa salad, and spinach salad with citrus balsamic dressing. Along with a side of caldo de pollo soup and chocolate mousse for dessert.
Tickets are $15 for the performance at 7:30pm and $10 for the buffet dinner at 6:00pm. Dinner reservations required. Call the Arcosanti Gallery at 928-632-7135 between 9am and 5pm or see www.arcosanti.org for tickets.
