Cob + Community
Learn Natural Building techniques from experienced builders and teachers while immersed in the Arcosanti campus and community. We’ll spend our days creating a wood fired sauna using natural building techniques, and have sessions to learn about Arcosanti and the theory of Arcology.
During the weekend participants are encouraged to explore nearby attractions including indigenous architecture and pueblo sites, Tonto Natural Bridge, Sedona, Cosanti, and the Grand Canyon. Meals and camping are included. Inquire for other accommodation options.
Week 1: Natural Building Foundations
April 7-12, $700
In this first week we will cover how to work with natural materials, and different natural building techniques for all scales of project such as small structures, saunas, ovens, homes, and larger structures. You will learn how to source materials, mix and apply cob, adobe, light straw clay, and natural finishes.
Week 2: Natural Building Details
April 14-19, $700
In this second week we will be completing the details of the project, and you will be able to gain a more in depth learning experience. We will finish any remaining natural wall systems, and work on built in details, and carpentry. This week is also great for anyone with a bit of natural building experience that can’t make the first week.
