The architecture of Arcosanti is the perfect backdrop for a 1 day photographic experience. Participants will learn the use of creative techniques that incorporate depth of field, shutter speed, and exposure compensation alongside both artistic and impactful approaches to composition.

This class will teach you how to “see” light to make great compositions, how to experimenting with depth of field, and control the interplay of light and shadows. You will take creative pictures of landscapes and people, and learn how to stop – or blur – action and movement. You will learn how, and when, to control ISO or exposure compensation, and learn photo editing basics, tips, and tricks for architecture and lighting. Also includes contextual lectures on Arcology and Architecture to help frame your photographic story.Lodging is available in a shared dorm for $25 per night, or private guestroom for $50 per night. Your class will be held at Arcosanti, the world’s first prototype Arcology and Urban Laboratory. Arcology is the integration of Architecture and Ecology and you will be taught how these concepts relate to the content of your class. You will experience being at Arcosanti for the duration of your class and have the opportunity to meet residents and learn about the project.
Workshop and Public Program Cancellation and Refund Policy:
Workshops: In the event that a participant must cancel his or her registration, the workshop fee will be refunded IN FULL up until 2 weeks before the first date of scheduled workshop date(s). Refunds requested less than 2 weeks before the first date of the scheduled workshop will be refunded at 50% or, applied IN FULL to a future workshop held during the same calendar year.
Public Programs and Performances: Ticket-holders may request a refund up until 1 week before the scheduled performance or program date; EventBrite, our ticketing platform, reserves the right to charge a nominal fee for issuing a refund. Refunds requested less than one week before the scheduled performance or after a performance or program has taken place are not eligible for a refund.
Special Circumstance Cancellations: On a case by case basis, The Cosanti Foundation will decide upon issuing refunds or credits for workshop sessions, performances, or public programs missed as a result of illness, emergencies, or other events beyond the control of the registrant or ticket-holder. Additionally, for workshops and public programs The Cosanti Foundation is forced to cancel due to low enrollment or ticket sales, extraordinary or unforeseen circumstances, or acts of god, registrants and ticket-holders will be notified via email and receive a refund IN FULL.
Any request for a refund must be submitted in writing via email to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than 5pm Mountain Standard Time on the day indicated above. Refunds for valid requests will be issued to the requestor in the same form of payment as originally provided to purchase tickets and/or register for the program in question.
Refunds for programs and/or workshops that have been canceled by The Cosanti Foundation citing any of the circumstances indicated above will also be refunded in the same form of payment as originally provided to purchase tickets and/or register for program.
