In this hands-on workshop participants will learn and experience the unique earth cast process developed at Cosanti and utilized at both Cosanti and Arcosanti. This process involves using the ground as the formwork to create the Cosanti bells and pottery. Participants will have the opportunity to cast and create their own one-of-a-kind ceramic bell.

This class will teach you the silt cast ceramics process, including: preparation of the silt beds, creation of the molds, and pouring the clay slip. You will also learn about drying the clay, processing and coloring the bells, carving principles and knife skills. The actual firing and assembly will be completed at a later date and your work will be shipped to you. Lodging is available in a shared dorm for $25 per night, or private guestroom for $50 per night. Your class will be held at Arcosanti, the world’s first prototype Arcology and Urban Laboratory. Arcology is the integration of Architecture and Ecology and you will be taught how these concepts relate to the content of your class. You will experience being at Arcosanti for the duration of your class and have the opportunity to meet residents and learn about the project.
Workshop and Public Program Cancellation and Refund Policy:
Workshops: In the event that a participant must cancel his or her registration, the workshop fee will be refunded IN FULL up until 2 weeks before the first date of scheduled workshop date(s). Refunds requested less than 2 weeks before the first date of the scheduled workshop will be refunded at 50% or, applied IN FULL to a future workshop held during the same calendar year.
Public Programs and Performances: Ticket-holders may request a refund up until 1 week before the scheduled performance or program date; EventBrite, our ticketing platform, reserves the right to charge a nominal fee for issuing a refund. Refunds requested less than one week before the scheduled performance or after a performance or program has taken place are not eligible for a refund.
Special Circumstance Cancellations: On a case by case basis, The Cosanti Foundation will decide upon issuing refunds or credits for workshop sessions, performances, or public programs missed as a result of illness, emergencies, or other events beyond the control of the registrant or ticket-holder. Additionally, for workshops and public programs The Cosanti Foundation is forced to cancel due to low enrollment or ticket sales, extraordinary or unforeseen circumstances, or acts of god, registrants and ticket-holders will be notified via email and receive a refund IN FULL.
Any request for a refund must be submitted in writing via email to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than 5pm Mountain Standard Time on the day indicated above. Refunds for valid requests will be issued to the requestor in the same form of payment as originally provided to purchase tickets and/or register for the program in question.
Refunds for programs and/or workshops that have been canceled by The Cosanti Foundation citing any of the circumstances indicated above will also be refunded in the same form of payment as originally provided to purchase tickets and/or register for program.
